SPEAKING PART 2 - TỪ VỰNG CHO CHỦ ĐỀ MARRIAGE
This post discusses a particular Part-2 question that has given a hard time for many students of mine. The question is
Describe a wedding you have been to
You should say:
• Where it was
• Who you went with
• What you saw
• And how you felt about the wedding
This question seems to be difficult as most people have very little good Vocabulary for the topic of Wedding and, therefore, are not able to produce a good response for it. This lesson provides you with expressions that should help you overcome this problem
1. The groom & The bride (Chú rể & Cô dâu)
2. A (typical) banquet (Một buổi tiệc rượu)
3. Get hitched/ Tie the knot = Get married (Kết hôn)
4. Give the bride away ((Nhà vợ) giao cô dâu)
(Ex: The bride’s father gave her away to the groom)
5. Crack open a bottle of champagne (Khui sâm panh)
(Ex: The married couple cracked open a bottle of champagne)
6. Raise a glass/ Drink a toast with [someone] (Uống mừng)
(Ex: The groom and the bride raised a glass with all the guests)
7. The bride throws a bouquet over her shoulder (Cô dâu ném hoa ra sau lưng (hôn lễ))
(Ex: And then, the bride threw a bouquet over her shoulder to see who would be the next person to get hitched)
Practice exercise: Write your answer for the question above in the section comment using the Vocabulary given.
